RCC Tips to save steel in Your Building Projects

 


1) plan your building in square shape than Rectangle. At least Length of building not more than 1.5 times of width of building. 


2) Do the Soil test and Design the foundation accordingly. 


3) if soil is not good try to improve the bearing capacity of soil instead of heavy foundation. 


4) for heavy column load, foundation with pedestal shall be economical in case of isolated footing. 


5) For long span slabs increase slab thickness instead of increase reinforcement. 


6) Room size also try square or at least Length to width ratio not more than 1.5 , then roof slabs are Two way which is economical than one way slab. 


7) try equal spacing of columns. Span of columns try to accommodate not more than 30 % variation. 


8) avoid long span cantilevers. ( slab & beam) 


9) Avoid Floating columns, 


10) Use Fe 550D grade steel reduce steel consumption. 


11) Use light weight block like AAC blocks instead of brick wall. Reduces lot of self weight. 


12) Keep in mind 1 kg of concrete is Rs. 6 to 7 /-

1 kg of steel is Rs 60 to 70/- so increase concrete Quantity instead of steel.
